Procedure to apply business visa:

  • Please advise the Invitee (counter- part in Ethiopia) to approach Immigration office in Ethiopia with the invitation letter to seek their approval for a Business Visa for their guests coming for a short meeting, conference, installation of machineries, NGOs, International organizations’ official business, Government work, teaching assignment, employment, exhibitions etc.
  • Immigration office shall issue written permission for issuance of type and duration of Business Visa and shall forward to Ethiopian Embassy in New Delhi.
  • After receiving the approval from Immigration office, immediately the Consular Section of the Embassy shall issue necessary visa according the instructions.

Applicants whose invitations have been approved as per above procedure can apply with the following documents at the Embassy:

  1. Relevant Pages of Passport: Original Passport with validity of minimum six months after the intended date of departure and minimum two blank pages for visa stamp.
  2. Visa Application Form: The visa application must be filled with proper information and signed by the applicant.
  3. Photograph Size: 35 x 45 mm in size with white background; taken within the last 6 months
  4. Cover Letter: A personal letter from applicant including personal details, purpose of visit and outlining who will be responsible for the full costs of the trip. The letter should be addressed to – The Visa Officer, the respective visa office/embassy and signed by the applicant. Visa Category must be mentioned in the subject line. A Letter of Invitation from the Business associates in Ethiopia to be faxed directly to the Embassy.
  5. Invitation Letter from a registered company/organization: Original/scanned copy invitation letter from the Invitee organization on its letter-head pad stating the purpose of travel, duration of stay and other necessary details with invitee’s signature.
  6. Forwarding Letter from employer: A letter from the employer on the organization’s letter-head pad stating applicant’s name, designation, passport number, his purpose and assigned roles during the visit, duration of visit, sponsorship status etc.
  7. Personal Bank Statements: Original Bank Statements (Personal/Payroll) for last 6 months mentioning the Bank’s name, telephone number clearly with authorized bank stamp and signature (e-statement is not acceptable).
  8. Sponsor’s Bank Statements: Original/scanned copy of bank statements from the sponsoring party (invitee/Employer company/any other person) for last 6 months mentioning the Bank’s name, telephone number clearly with authorized bank stamp and signature. (Equivalent of USD 50 per day is required for the expenses of the applicant while in Ethiopia).
  9. Company ITR Certificate: Income Tax Return Certificate on company’s tax returns for a period of last 3 years (Recommended).
  10. Airline Ticket Itinerary: A reserved itinerary for your airline ticket as per the schedule of the trip.
  11. Hotel Reservation: A reserved itinerary for your accommodation at a hotel or resort as per the schedule of the trip.
  12. Polio (OPV) Certificate: A valid Polio (OPV) Certificate is required. The dose of OPV should be taken at least four weeks prior to the departure from India.
  13. Yellow fever vaccination: Health Certificate confirming vaccination against Yellow Fever. A Yellow fever vaccination certificate is valid for 10 years, beginning 10 days after vaccination. Vaccination shot to be taken accordingly.
